Community Pastoral Care Network does many home repairs for the elderly in the city of St. Louis. Occasionally we take on much larger projects than just simple safety related repairs. One such job is for a woman we call “Carol”. She asked us not to use her real name. She has lived in a home she owns that has had major issues for over the last 10 years. When we started on here home she had no working kitchen or bathroom. She had no furnace and the stairs to her basement were very dangerous.
We started her repairs last fall. Over the course of the last several months we have been able to complete many repairs. We have had financial partners give donations of cash and materials. We have had volunteers come from over 100 miles away to help. She is overwhelmed and grateful for all that has been done for her.
Update! We have been working on “Carol's” home for some time now. For the first time in a very long time, she has a functioning kitchen, stove, bathroom and furnace. She now has a washing machine and stove as well as many other repairs we have been able to facilitate. Thanks to multiple donors and volunteers, this elderly woman's life has been completely changed. We still need a gas clothes dryer and about $500.00 in materials to finish the job.
